The core expert delivery team supported by specialist work stream leads from within Hallam and NCCPE. The delivery team are responsible for Programme Management, Network coordination, administration, planning, reporting and in implementing the activity plan
Richard Calvert - Strategic Lead
Richard is Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Sheffield Hallam, moving from his previous role as Director General for Strategy and Resources at the Department for Education. Richard has over 30 years’ of experience both in Whitehall and internationally, covering senior policy, programme and operational roles. Richard leads the civic agenda at Sheffield Hallam and was instrumental in establishing the South Yorkshire Futures programme in 2017.
Until he took up his current post, Greg worked as a senior Civil Servant in the Department for Education. He has worked in a wide range of roles in central government which have included both policy and delivery. He has operated at both the national and regional level, working on a range of education policy. He has wide experience of delivery in a complex political environment.
Dr. Debbie Squire - Programme Manager
Debbie is an experienced programme manager having worked in a variety of sectors including banking and the water industry. She has a track record of successful programme and project delivery since joining Sheffield Hallam University in 2010 and is currently the Programme Manager for the Civic University Network and the South Yorkshire Futures programme.
Professor Ed Ferrari is the Director of the Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research (CRESR) at Sheffield Hallam University. Ed’s expertise is in urban and regional policy, including housing and transport policy. He has worked closely with and for local and city regional governments and is a strong proponent of partnerships between universities and city regional policy makers.
Paul leads on the NCCPE’s policy work. He has 12 years’ experience of high level influencing and leadership of HE public engagement, and has built extensive networks across the sector. He advises a number of national organisations on learning and engagement, including the National Trust as the chair of their Advisory Group on Collections and Interpretation.
Natalie Day, Head of Policy and Strategy, Sheffield Hallam University
Natalie Day is Head of Policy and Strategy at Sheffield Hallam University and has over 20 years of experience in government, think tanks, national academies and universities. She has worked in policy roles at the universities of Melbourne, Oxford, Sussex, Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam.
Emily is the Head of the Institute of Community Studies at The Young Foundation. She previously worked for the British Council where she developed the global research portfolio, spanning internationally comparative research into youth voice and policy, education, civil society, and culture. Emily has led and conducted research world-wide and previously held professional and academic positions at University College London and King’s College London.
Jacqui Robinson, Director of Communications and Marketing, Sheffield Hallam University
Jacqui joined Sheffield Hallam University in July 2017 with responsibility for promoting the University’s profile and reputation in all aspects of its business, including national and regional stakeholder and civic engagement. With over 25 years’ experience in marketing and communications across a range of sectors including travel and transport, she has worked for over 12 years in the HE sector in strategic leadership roles.
