The Institute for Community Studies has launched ‘Safety in Numbers’, a research agenda with communities for communities, which asked over 3,000 people across the UK about what matters to their communities through a process of priority setting in partnership.

The resulting forty research questions, six core themes and accompanying case studies speak to many hopes, fears and challenges that are recognisable to all of our work with local places, with others that are more surprising.

This information can also contribute to the work of the Civic University Network and its members, in providing a guiding ‘baseline’ of key questions that communities have indentified as needing further research and action.
