About

The Reverse Volunteering Pathways to Practice report showcases a collaboration between Anglia Ruskin University, local authorities, and charities to help internationally trained refugee and migrant medics re-enter the UK healthcare workforce.

Funded by the NCIA and using a reverse volunteering model, the pilot offered peer-led guidance, networking, and clear requalification pathways. Participants gained confidence, direction, and a sense of community.

The report calls for inclusive, flexible support and recommends expanding provision, enabling virtual participation, adding practical workshops, and sustaining mentorship. Learning from the initiative will guide future events and scalable resources to enhance civic impact and integrate refugee medics into the UK health sector.
