About Amanda Jackson
Amanda Jackson is an experienced community development practitioner, with over two decades of expertise in community engagement at the University of Leeds. Under her leadership, the university’s community engagement agenda has evolved into a strategically significant area, while she remains focused on relationship building and fostering trust within the communities of Leeds. As a key liaison between the university and various stakeholders—local residents, community organizations, Leeds City Council, charities, regional bodies, MPs, and civil servants—Amanda has built a strong reputation for understanding and trust.
In her current role, Amanda leads the University of Leeds' efforts to actively support a sustainable and net-zero city, emphasizing the university’s social impact through community engagement and participation across Leeds and the broader region. As Co-lead for Civic Engagement through CENTRE, the university’s inclusive network for education, research, and civic engagement, she is dedicated to addressing local inequalities and challenges, with the aim of improving the lives of local residents, staff, and students.
Amanda is also a founding member and Co-Director of the UK Town and Gown Association, a professional network dedicated to strengthening the relationships between universities and the communities where students live. Through this role, she promotes the professional development of members and helps create vibrant, supportive communities for all residents.
